Wash Day

This is a poem by Lilly M. Sharp.

“Wash Day”

When wash day comes around

And the day is looking blue;

One feels like saying

I won’t wash to day would you.

You go to work at something else

But your mind is on the wash

For dirty clothes are not nice

To think about or josh.

You look out side to see

If the weather’s changed at all;

You imagine that it has

And that you see old Sol.

You feel like going at it

And have it off your mind;

So you put the water on to heat

Though you know you are behind.

You go at it with at will

And mean to see it through;

The clothes are all on the line

Altho, the day was blue.
