1955 Coley Reunion

I have these two photos of the 1955 Coley Reunion in Richmond, Cache, Utah.  These two pictures are obviously of the same group, the black and white one of much better quality, but I thought I would include the color one since it can add a dimension to the black and white (since it is pretty blurry).  The first picture seems like it was just for Coley descendants, but then spouses sneak in to the picture, so I really do not know what was the thinking for the shot.  The second photo has a few more people I will need help naming, especially the younger ones.  Let me know if there are corrections.  (Click on the photos to see them closer)

Colleen Mary Andra Jonas Lloyd

For my Grandmother’s birthday today, I thought I would put together a picture history of her life from the photos I have.  I don’t think I will write a whole lot, just share photos of her life in chronological order, as much as I can.  I hope you enjoy it.

Colleen Mary Andra was born 27 May 1928 in Preston, Franklin, Idaho to Mary Louise Wanner and William Fredrick Andra.  The fifth child to her parents.  She married Wilburn Norwood Jonas 27 September 1946 in Elko, Elko, Nevada.  Three children were born to her and Norwood; Douglas in 1952, Sandra in 1954, and Jackie in 1960.  After he died in 1975, she remarried Evan Kay Elliott 9 April 1976 in Idaho Falls, Bonneville, Idaho.  After their divorce around 1987, she married Ivan “Bud” Walter Lloyd 31 January 1998 in Dingle, Bear Lake, Idaho.  She died in Boise, Ada, Idaho 14 November 1999 and was buried in Dingle on the 18th.

We are happy to share the birth of our new baby: Hiram Milo Ross.

He was born at 3:47 PM on 15 May 2012.

He weighed in at 7 pounds, 15 ounces, 20.5 inches long.

Ross & Adelaide Andra Wedding

This is the wedding photo for the Ross and Adelaide (Gonzalez) Andra wedding taken 14 June 1963 in Preston, Franklin, Idaho.

Ross, Millie, and Colleen are three of the children of Bill and Mary (Wanner) Andra.  Norwood Jonas is the husband of Colleen and Sandy is their daughter (my mother).

Edith (Gudmundson) and Phyllis (McKinney, the one on the right) are spouses of two other Andra boys, Bill Jr and Don respectively.

Phyllis Merrill was a missionary who served in Brazil and became a very good friend to Adelaide.  She helped teach Adelaide English and spent the day interpreting for her as she went through the Logan Temple.

I particularly like this photo because of the golden smile Great Grandpa has on his face.  This is the best photo I have of his smile.

Albert Docks

 

As I have written some of the histories already posted and continue the drafts of a few for later, I am surprised how many of my ancestors came through Albert Docks in Liverpool, England.  Most of my ancestors that came to America during the 1800’s came in the latter part of the century and passed through this series of warehouses/docks. Doing some research, this was the first non-combustible warehouse system in the world.  The world’s first hydraulic cranes were also used here.

I took this picture on 13 April 1999 as we visited as a part of our mission tour.  Since so many church history sites were in our mission, we were taken on tour and the Albert docks were included.  At that time I had no knowledge that a single one of my ancestors walked these very stones.  Since a good portion of my ancestry is German, I assumed they would not have traveled through Liverpool.  I was wrong.  As far as I can tell, every ancestor that immigrated in the 19th century came through this very port.  German, Swedish, Norwegian, English, Welsh.  One was even married on the water as they waited for their turn to leave the port.

Looking back, I wish I had known this at the time.  But still, I am glad I have a picture from that day I visited.  You can see The Three Graces between the Albert buildings.  The Royal Liver Building is the farthest with the clock tower.  This building also has the storied Liver birds on the top of each tower.  The next building is the Cunard Building, built by the Shipping Company.  The closest one, with the dome, is the Port of Liverpool Building.  All three are pretty buildings and when I lived across the Mersey in Liscard, I would often see these impressive buildings from the opposite shore.  I had no idea Albert Dock even existed then, otherwise I may have snapped a shot of it at that time.
